Air Ambulance

Medical Assisted Air Services

Patients requiring air transport and physician-assisted escort services within Italy or from anywhere abroad can access such services pursuant to an agreement between the Santa Lucia Foundation and Air Ambulance. The flights, medical services and support are organized and managed directly by the company's operations center, which can provide its own aircraft configured as medically required to escort the patient, inclusive of intensive care services, or physician-assisted escort on scheduled flights.

Medical-Assisted Flight

Air Ambulance has permanently a plane configured as intensive care unit, with one or two stretchers Spectrum Aeromed or Lifeport and the latest generation of appropriate medical equipment. On board you will find an anesthesiologist/resuscitation medical doctor and a nurse specializing in intensive care to best ensure safe patient transport. The multilingual Operations Center coordinates any ambulance and ground transport and the final arrival at the Santa Lucia Foundation Irccs, while maintaining contact with relatives and insurance carriers throughout.

Medical Escort on Scheduled Flights

Air Ambulance can also provide medical escort and accompanying physician services on regularly scheduled commercial flights. Before the organization of the flight, an assessment is made of the feasibility in relation to the patient's clinical status and any need for transfers and connections. In evaluating feasibility, Air Ambulance takes care of all organizational aspects, from booking and purchasing tickets, the coordination of physician services with the commercial airline, which interacts with Air Ambulance to agree on terms, conditions and procedures for implementing the details of the patient transport. During the flight Air Ambulance integrates an airline suitable stretcher, where required, with all the medical equipment necessary for the patient's medical treatment.
