Experimental Neuropsychophysiology Lab

Areas of Investigation

The Laboratory of Experimental Neuropsychophysiology studies the clinical neurophysiology of the motor system as well as cognitive function. The research is aimed at understanding the mechanisms underlying plasticity and cortical connectivity of the healthy human brain. The goal is to develop new therapeutic approaches for the recovery of neurological functions affected by stroke or neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's. The translational research approach has its overall objective to improve clinical best practices in the rehabilitation of dementia and cerebrovascular as well as movement disorders.

Non Invasive Brain Stimulation

The Laboratory is committed to using non-invasive brain stimulation techniques such as transcranial magnetic stimulation and transcranial direct current stimulation. These techniques are used in a multidisciplinary approach, combined with electroencephalography as well as functional and structural magnetic resonance imaging.
